Updates! The 2008 album is now online in the photography section and the first set of photographs is all HDR'd out, yo. Look for more design and photographic work later on in the summer, a new media theory section on FusedEffects, and at least one new track! Hooray for summer.

Christmas Comes Early at FusedEffects

Holy shitbrick, two new tracks! Of course, that can only mean, holy shitbrick, a month of (semi) free time! The first piece, "Everything" was actually written and produced back in spring of 2006, but I've been meddling with little pieces of it off and on and only finally am I satisfied with it. I completed the second piece, "Another Day" just this month. Both are 4/4 and both sound substantially different. I've been playing around with vocoders a lot lately: both tracks feature yours truly on vocals, but fortunately, you don't have to listen to my vocal cords. I've got a robot here that does all the singing for me :D Have a listen in the music section and let me know what you think! I'm finishing up another track - full-on chemical breaks - to be released later this month.

New Photography Work Online
August 14 , 2007. Posted by Erik.

I've added some new photographs to the 2007 album, along with some photo project work (separate from the regular photography sections.) This update features photographs from my trip to Montreal, a new portraiture series, and a daily helping of flora photography. Check it out! :)

Welcome to FusedEffects v4.0: Inverse
July 12, 2007. Posted by Erik.

After a nearly year-long hiatus, FusedEffects is finally back online! We've completely revamped the layout and architecture, redesigned the interface, and leaned out our content to ensure a quality online art experience. We've also gone back to our roots, eliminating superfluous sections of the site that at one time were good ideas, but never really came to fruition. What remains? Only the best of FusedEffects.

The Story Behind "Inverse"
Inverse - i.e. inverted. We designed FusedEffects: Inverse to starkly contrast our preceding version, 3.0: Minimalist. With this version Jerry and I seek to embrace vibrancy and contrast. You'll notice colourful thumbnails, contrasting features, and an overall dedication to variety in both content and form.

Improved Functionality
We've reconfigured the main page to not only bring you site updates and features, but goings-on and findings in the digital music, art, and design communites through the Watchbox. Keep watching this area as we expand and enhance the functionality of the main page. We've also expanded the design section to include digital illustration. This section will include 3D renderings, vector illustration, and other work that goes beyond straightforward web design.

A True FusedExpo
You'll find that some old works are still available throughout the site's "selected works" subsections, but a plethora of new multimedia artwork also stands ready to please your senses. I've released 3 new electronic tracks, an entirely fresh photography album, and a handful of new vector pieces. Jerry informs me that a Wacom tablet is in the works, which can only mean some quality work from him in the coming monhts. We've worked hard to prepare fresh stuff for the release of FusedEffects 4.0: Inverse, so please, explore the site and let us know what you think (you can give the new Shoutbox a shot!) Thanks for stopping by!

Going to see the Beastie Boys! They're, like, 40 now, so I'm interested to see how this performance will run.

My girlfriend and I are heading to Montréal for the weekend. It will be the first time I really get the chance to explore this city; the last time I visited Montréal it was only to make a quick deposit of bagged vomit on a street corner (hooray for food poisioning!) Yuck. I'm really looking forward to some great architecture-photo ops...not to mention some real live electronic music - perhaps I can escape the top 40 for one weekend... I'm particularly excited about the Society for Arts and Technology.

I stumbled upon the SAT while searching for decent clubs in the area. To be honest, I'm really not terribly obsessed with the "club scene" insofar as the drugs, illicit sex, and creepy guys are concerned. I'm much more interested in the technical aspects of the electronic scene - the electronic music itself, the architectural design of various club venues, DJing, producing, etc. Apparently, I'm in luck: the SAT is a research institute by day and club by night - at least that's what I can discern from its cryptic website SAT.qc.ca. The SAT seems to host a lot of live, eclectic electronic performances coupled with digital art exhibits. In fact, content-wise, it seems a lot like a real-life version of FusedEffects. So, hopefully our evening at the SAT will turn out more creative/cultural experiences than a typical night at the 'drunk-ass hoes and dawgs' cluuuub. Gonna buy you a draaaank.

I'm also pretty excited to check out Gunther von Hagens' "Body Worlds II" at the Montréal Science Centre. It's interesting how art really transcends media divisions. It's anatomy, but each body is simultaneously a work of art...creepy, creepy art. I stumbled upon this: Creepy Taxidermist (direct video link) while browsing www.cbc.ca. Warning: not for the squeamish. This shit is sick - a true embodiment of the abject - but these guys really have found a bizarre franken-platform for artistic expression. But...I think I'll stick to paper and the computer screen. Some fresh content to come after the trip!
